there are far, far better things ahead than any we left behind.

we all have good days, we all have bad days. the good days are great, they're fantastic; you know, those days where your mom made your favourite breakfast or your boss is in an extra-special good mood, or that homework assignment you were dreading isn't due until next week, etc. things just seem to be going your way. and there are days that are just the opposite. this mixtape is for those days. it's for those days where you feel faulty, like the day couldn't get any worse but then it does, and you want the rapture to happen now or for the world to swallow you up into its core. i didn't have one of those days, i had one of those weekends, and after i hit the publish button for this mixtape, i listened back and i learned to let it all go. so before you crawl into bed with the intentions of never getting back out, just remember: there are far, far better things ahead that any we left behind.

  1. I actually considered buying A Tree Grows In Brooklyn at one point, but I don't think it's available where I am now. Let me know how it is, 'kay? :)

  5. Thank you thank you thank you. I've been having those days a lot lately, which is unusual and strange for me. I've had barely any free time, and the time I do have I wallow away and think stressful thoughts. Today was one of those terrifyingly bad days, and the next few days I'm dreading. But today I decided I wasn't going to let the bad stuff (e.i. stuff I don't want to do) get in the way with my joy. So I danced around the house, I sang in the car and almost died while driving, I laughed with my friend even though we both studied the wrong thing and basically failed on our tests, I rode my bike and let go of all the things that have been bothering me. I forget to just take one day at a time - I get caught up in all the studying I have to do (which is an incredible amount, just so you know ;-)) and all the scary things ahead in my future.
This mixtape is perfect for me right now. So thank you. :-)

  8. Ah, yes. (And ftw, this post reminds me of what Simi just posted - but in a different way. It's good. :) I think that now a lot of bloggers are telling the world that 'No, my life isn't as good as I depict it to be', which is SO essential, good, critical and important to do. Thank you, Jocee, for being an example of this.

  9. Oh, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn is wonderful. I got it as a gift a few Christmases ago, and gobbled it up across the lonely hours of Boxing Day. It made me cry, and there's some really difficult subject matter and heart-twisting stories, but it's beautiful too. I think I might just have to re-read it now.

But I miss your old blog design, the one from maybe..oh, early 2011 and your rants about cupcakes and Narnia. The posts when you had at least 30 pictures of William Mosely. :P
