when it comes to editing.

(roll-over to see the SOOC image)
the ideal way to use makeup is to enhance the wonderful features God has already given you. you don't have to cake it on, because that doesn't look very flattering, and makeup is intended to flatter. in a reasonable manner. in the same way, photos are ideally edited to enhance the beauty they already possess. sometimes it might take a little work (thanks, weather), but don't give-up just because it doesn't look the way it should without the makeup on. there isn't a law that says your SOOCs have to be national geographic quality--i'm sure they edit too.

-kiss kiss kiss, love actually-
{pea ess: i edited the first photo with red leaf studios' color matte iv - soft gold;
the only other change i made was i upped the contrast to +100.
i edited the first photo with vsco 02's fuji neopan 1600++.}

  3. oooh these are lovely! and it's totally true what you said about editing. it drives me NUTS when people over-edited, where the photo doesn't even look real anymore.

  4. Yeeees. Perfeeeect. I feel like so many people fled the other way and completely stopped editing because they like the "natural" look better, and then others go crazy and over saturate like this is their last day to live.
    Truth is, camera's don't always capture the vibrancy of the day, and editing helps makes things looks a little more fantastic. or something.
    Totally love that first edit. Her hair is just.. gah. I want.

    1. haha, no offense taken. and i agree with you there: vsco is really trendy. (but #idowhatiwant, hahaha.) i like the way it looks on my photos, though. i started out using it because i liked the film look (and i still do) but now i use it so i can learn how to manually edit (literally, before it was one click and done, now i know how to make little other fixes and stuff like that) but the way some other people use it isn't very.... well. let's just say it's not my favourite. even though i'll always live what vsco has to offer, i'm also looking into other presets as well. (well, i'm scouring the world for them because all the really good stuff is for photoshop and i do NOT want to pay for/spend a million years learning how to use it.)

      okay so that was a slightly unnecessary novel. whatever. bless you for being anon and not anon spam. regular anon is, admittedly, so much better. ;)

    2. do pardon my ignorance, I know nothing about editing, if i am to be honest, but what is vsco?

    3. visual supply co. they sell premade edits for photos, specifically edits that make the photos look like they're straight out of a film camera. that's not really my goal with vsco, but here are some (GREAT) samples it's been used with: http://vsco.co/film (scroll all the way down and gush.)

  8. I've been sitting like a kid in a candy shop scrolling back and forth on that first photo for the last 3 minutes. HOLY COW!!! IT'S SO COOL. THE COLORS ARE STELLAR. Totally rad editing skills on that one! I recently started editing my photos. Before I didn't edit because firstly, I wanted to really know my camera and learn the art of taking a good sooc photo (I didn't want to be one of those Oh-i'll-fix-that-in-photoshop-later" type of photographer) and secondly, I was just lazy. :P Anyhoo, now that I've started. I'm pretty much addicted.
    these are just awesome.

    i have been kind of lost in the photo editing world, and this helped. maybe you could do a small tutorial, giving us some tips and tricks on how your editing is done? but if you need to keep it to yourself since it is YOUR editing style, i completely understand. gorgeous photos ofcourse and always. :)

  14. I don't really enjoy editing OR putting makeup on...But hey, I'm thirteen so maybe it's natural not to put on makeup. I never really connected it to editing photos, though. To be honest, I'm not even good at editing, really.

    Love,
