this one's got a little light in her.

the way she smiled finally reminded me that i don't need to check off each important life moment, i can actually live until i get to them. - inkskinned
i wrote an anon the other day. "they always tell you that you’ll be 40 before you know it, that in the blink of an eye your life will flash before you in sequences that you thought you’d forgotten. they always tell you to enjoy what you have now, because in the end, only a handful of souls will remain kindred with yours.

what they don’t tell you is that you have a life to live. they speak to you as if you’ve already lived it. and maybe there’s wisdom in that that we do not understand, but what i want to tell them is that on some nights, i’ve dreamed of future happenings and dreaded the events that would have to occur before them. some nights, i’ve lain paralyzed by anxiety of what i had to do the next morning at 8:30am. but some nights, i’ve lain shivering with excitement for things that i’ve waited time and time again for. little children can’t wait until their wedding day. then they can’t wait until they have little children. and it’s funny because we picture ourselves where we are now and we imagine what it’ll take to get us to the next day.

they always tell you that you’ll be 40 before you know it, that in the blink of an eye your life will flash before you in sequences you thought you’d forgotten. they always tell you to enjoy what you have now, but what i wish they’d tell you is that there’s time in between 16 and 40. that we have to experience every moment from now until then to fully arrive. we can’t cheat; there isn’t a time machine. we were made to live, and to experience, and who better to do that with than someone who makes it fun?"

there aren't many people left who are unafraid to act silly or throw away all preconceived attitudes of adulthood. jasmine's the sort of girl who will throw her sense of life in your face, almost demanding you to be yourself as well. we live in a world where facades are the fad, so why not take off your mask? she's a senior this year, and even after she leaves for university, i'm confident that she'll only give off light.

and those words are so true. i have never understood the fact that in the blink of an eye everything will be different, but there are still memories to make during that time.
