what should we do today? {a guest post by gracie}

it's finally November.
the leaves are slowly drifting off the tree branches and the temperatures are dropping. snow is falling in some places, and in other places, we're just bundled up like little Eskimos in the arctic while the weather man announces that the high will be 50-some degrees tomorrow.
pomegranates are in season and blueberry muffins accompanied with a mug of hot coco is the perfect breakfast when the weather is a bit chilly.
now, that brings along a question that some people might ask... what to do when the weather outside is frightful and you have no fireplace with a fire inside that's supposedly so delightful?
well, there are quite a few things you could do.
my favorites?
1} read a book.
this is probably the most sensible thing to do, i don't believe there is anything better than reading a book by the window listening to the wind howling outside, snuggled up in your bed with all the comforts of home surrounding you...
nope. nothing is better than reading a book on a chilly day.

2} blog about the chilly weather and the book you are currently reading.
yeah, you probably saw that one coming, didn't you?

3} make hot chocolate.
yes. this one paired with number one is like heaven on earth. and because sharing is caring, i'm going to share with you my all time favorite hot chocolate recipe which is as simple as one, two, three!

The Bestest Best Hot Chocolate in the World
from the Better Homes and Gardens cook book from the 90s
what you need:
2 ounces (or 1/3 cup chocolate pieces) unsweetened/semisweet chocolate powder
1/3 cup sugar
4 cups milk
whipped cream and/or marshmallows (optional, but delicious)

what to do:
In a medium size saucepan combine chocolate, sugar, and 1/2 cup of the milk.
Cook and stir over medium heat till mixture just begins to boil.
Stir in remaining milk. Do not boil.
Remove from heat.
serve hot in your favorite mug. and add a few marshmallows and whipped cream if you want.
enjoy!
