pardon the outlet. it was either that or an awkward rectangle hole in the wall. this is as close as a bohemian flowerchild-who's-attending-coachella (which is basically a concert with a million hipster artists that no one else knows exist) as i'm comfortable getting. this is me playing around with the self-timer function on my camera before i get some money for a decent tripod and remote. hi my name is jocelyn, and while i don't shop often, that doesn't mean i can't look cute with the clothes i have. more interesting things coming soon.

shoe shopping.

the best part about shopping at DSW is the fact that size 11 is marked with a big, neon green sticker. the next best part about shopping at DSW is the fact that i'm shopping at DSW. if you've read the blog for awhile and have caught the less-than-rare fashion post, you know that i don't shop. it's not my choice, though, honestly. if i have a driver's license i would shop all the time. but since i don't drive yet, and my parents both hate shopping, i look forward to grandma's visits as though shopping would go out of style. so on this current visit, grandma noticed that my everyday loafers were, well, about to expire. so commence the trip to the designer shoe warehouse. incidentally, i wanted a pair of beyond-hipster-people boots, a pair of black converse just like hers (my grandma is so cool like she has cooler shoes than me; also my last pair were stolen. #boo), and is exactly what i got. so, bless you, grandma.

and now, to trapeze around downton in denim button-downs and coral skinny jeans with an iced latte in hand because 1), it's pretty warm in texas for the winter (surprise surprise), and 2), i'm too #hypster to be #hipster.

the day i dressed up as the american flag and made kissy faces at the camera.

one day, i was looking for variety in my wardrobe and i came across this beyond gorgeous red pleated skirt in my mom's closet. after stealing it [#ehehe #youmad #idowhatiwant #anditwascute], i had a small spurt of creativity and decided to dress up as the british flag for school. striped sweater, blue belt, red-starred-and-pleated skirt and all, i managed to look very patriotic. so until i buy a beatles tee or some more striped articles of clothing, i will continue to look like the american flag. but to move on.

a few weeks later, while at a conference that some good friends were hosting [that was the day i met dude perfect], i ran into one of my old buddies from teen court: christina. she is the sweetest, most encouraging girl, and always has something good to say. she also endorses smiling. seriously, though, she's the bee's knees. and after the conference, she treated me to a mini-photoshoot. and i decided to be a walking american flag that day. so this is what happened:
glasses: 3D (avengers) // cardigan: forever21 // tank top: target // belt: macy's // skirt: stolen from mommy's closet (more like tardis) // shoes {not shown}: DSW.

christina, we're going to have to do this again. like, now. go to christina's blog to check out her post!

because

because the golden hour is the best time to take photos.
because making birthday invitations is the best ever.
because sometimes swim practice isn't so bad.
because bokeh is beautiful.
because technically, this counts as fashion:
sweater: vintage // shirt: target // belt: vintage from grandma // jeans: target // oxfords {not shown}: DSW
because it's almost thanksgiving and i'm thankful for all of you.
because i'm sending off my music composition today and we're celebrating with chocolate-chip cookie dough ice cream.
because my mommy's macaroni + cheese is a gift from God, and i'm thankful for that too.
because getting boxes in the mail calls for a happy dance.
because we have cake mix in the pantry.
and you can guess what i'm going to do with that.

-kiss kiss kiss, hug a rocking chair-
{pee ess: i have an etsy. not selling anything yet, but i have one. also, i think i'm going to start accepting sponsors. any one want to?}
{pee pee ess: photo challenge tomorrow. get ready...}

playing around with...

001. Polyvore
hello summer
002.  My camera :)
This is the cherry from the ice cream sundae I had...on Sunday (lol) at my grandma's house. She has these *adorable* vintage glasses that I used and it's just lovely.
Yes, that's my hand on the side, there. The wind was blowing and I had to hold this lovely wildflower up :)
This picture was an honor to take. The sun was just about to set, and the sky was the perfect shade of baby blue and turquoise that meshed together in the middle..and this plant just happened to be right there.
This is Lizzy. She's one of my best friends, and just happens to be one and a half. She's the most precious thing ever, and I'm so proud of myself for getting a shot of her while she stood still ;P
This picture is completely unedited...'nuff said.
003. GIF's.
I made my first one today:
7PreYN on Make A Gif, Animated Gifs
My dad brought home a cupcake from some random meeting he had....*sigh* I just love random cupcakes...with even randomer teapots in the background ;)
What have YOU (ha, didn't expect that, didya'?)  been playing around with lately?

6.21.2011

i have a new love!

Okay, so the first order of business is to thank everyone for the lovely comments I received on my last post. It was so sweet how each of you had something encouraging and inspiring to say and I feel much better, and I love each and every one of you. I wish I could send you all cupcakes :))
And now, the second order of business is to tell you all:
And the third and most important order of business is that today, on the first day of summer, I have found a new love. It's called Shop Ruche, and it's my own personal haven. Vintage haven, that is....
This is the first outfit I would buy from this shop. Okay, instead of would buy, I'll change it to will buy. Isn't the place just too cute?!?! I'm loving the ring and hairclip...*sigh* Anyway, I also have a new hobby for summer.....(or the rest of my life for that matter)
collecting stamps
My dad got a letter in the mail from one of his old friends, and the most AH-DORABLE lilac stamp was pasted onto the envelope. I successfully removed it, and put it onto my own ivory colored envelope that I just think I might frame when it's completely full of stamps. Isn't that such a great idea? Yeah, I think so.
What are your new loves?
Happy summer, all :))

a slew of ideas...

Before I go on, let me say that the post title actually made sense today. Ohmygoshbubbles, I SO didn't mean for that to rhyme. Honestly, I leave the rhyming up to the super heroes.

(by the way, I just like this picture)
Anywhoo, so while I was looking at this really cool post Emily did, and I thought it would be really cool if I had a little task/tag/whatever-type thingy that had to do with a day of the week. If I did it would be called....
positively perfect week
(or something like that) and each day we'd blog about something we did today!! It would be like this:
  • marvelous monday
  • terrific tuesday
  • wondrous wednesday
  • thoughtful thursday
  • fun-filled friday
  • silly saturday
  • super sunday
Or something like that. You like it? I like it. You could post a picture you took or just blog about something that made your day a little brighter! I'd make buttons, and everything!
What do you think. Should I do it? I think I should.
And THEN, I was kind of stalking some people's photography websites, etc, and I thought it would be cool if I made my own photography blog! Do you think that'd be fun? I do.
Oh! And I also had some Polyvore love:

*dramatic sigh* The world might-as-welleth endeth tonigheth. For I have no knowledge of how to-- THAT'S IT!!! I'm confusing myself.

So, while I try to figure out Polyvore (it's fun, but there's ALOT of clothes to choose from which makes it a little confusing) I google how to create drop down menus (kinda like the ones at Bleah's blog or even Carlotta's blog) for my youth blog, S.T.A.N.D. There's one thing that's in my way. HTML's. I'm terrified of html's. I know a little bit about them, but they're not really my icing on the cupcake. (cup of tea, but I like "cupcake" better, lol) Anyone know how to do this? I'm virtually freaking out, here!

Oh! By the way, I have five lovely-happy entries for my photo challenge! Yayzerz!! I'm now going to shower you with cupcake pictures:
And now, as I finish a personality test and google some more, I hear the sounds of my mother beckoning me downstairs to clean for an hour. Oh, joy.
Later, peeps.
